A little bit about me and how Brushed by Rach was born

When many of us were taking up new hobbies in 2020, I picked up a beginner watercolour set with the goal of painting house portraits for my friends who were buying their first homes. I fell in love with the creative process and it wasn’t long before my new hobby had snowballed into a fun side hustle.

I spent the better part of the last decade going to school for and working in mental health, but when mandates brought my 9-5 to a grinding halt in the fall of 2021, Brushed by Rach became my full-time gig. Needless to say, my journey to business-ownership was a rocky one, born out of necessity and not something I ever thought I was capable of.

I know now that this was the push out of my comfort zone I needed and not a day goes by that I’m not grateful for the opportunity I had to create a more balanced and authentic lifestyle for myself. I still get to dip my toes in the social work world two days a week and the rest of my week is usually spent creating art and stationery, spending time with my favourite people or trying a new recipe. I love iced coffees, bike rides, reading, Pilates and all things health and wellness.
